The Collaborative Networks group (ColNet) is part of the Unit of Manufacturing Systems Engineering (UESP) of INESC Porto.

ColNet aims at developing innovative concepts and applications for the management of information and knowledge in collaborative networks by focusing on the social process perspective of knowledge
creation and use and sees collaboration as the fundamental social process to be supported.

The ColNet research vision is that:

1. semantic issues are and will be fundamental to be
dealt with in any type of collaboration process
between organizations;

2. semantic technologies are maturing and are going to
used in large scale in business applications and the
next generation information systems will rely heavily
on semantic enabled infrastructures;

3. human, social and organizational aspects of
semantic enabled systems are as important as the
technological ones;

4. socio-semantics is our approach to semantic
technologies in collaborative networks.
